Orb of Dominance and Awakener's Orb Crafting
Orb of Dominance and Awakener's Orb are endgame currency items that interact with influenced mods. This tool helps you find the right base items on the trade site by generating search links with the exact influenced mods you want to keep or transfer.
How It Works
- Choose which orb you are crafting with. Orb of Dominance elevates one influenced mod and removes another — the item needs exactly two influenced mods from the same influence. Awakener's Orb transfers one influenced mod from a donor item to a target item, destroying the donor.
- Select the base type and influence. For Orb of Dominance the valid bases are body armour, helmet, boots, and gloves. For Awakener's Orb the full range is available — armour plus rings, amulets, belts, shields, quivers, and every weapon type. Influences include Shaper, Elder, Crusader, Hunter, Warlord, and Redeemer.
- Browse the available mods for that influence and base type. Each mod shows its trade stat IDs and tier information.
- Pick the mod you want to keep (Dominance) or transfer (Awakener). The tool generates a trade search link that filters for items with that specific influenced mod.
- Open the trade link on pathofexile.com to find items with the right mod already on them.
Example: Awakener Slam for +1 Minion Skills Helmet
Goal: craft a Hunter/Shaper helmet with elevated "Minions deal # to # additional Physical Damage" (Hunter) plus "+1 to Level of all Minion Skill Gems" (Shaper).
Step 1: buy a Shaper helmet base with +1 Minion Skill Gems as its only influenced mod — the rest of the item does not matter. Step 2: buy a Hunter helmet with the additional Physical Damage mod you want. Step 3: Awakener slam transfers the Shaper mod onto the Hunter item, destroying the Shaper donor and giving the target helmet both influences.
Use this tool to pick "Awakener's Orb → Helmet → Shaper" to generate a trade link for the cheapest Shaper helmet with +1 Minion Skill Gems. Then repeat with "Hunter" to find your target helmet. Combining the two items costs one Awakener's Orb plus whatever the two bases cost.
Tips
- Orb of Dominance has a 50/50 chance of elevating the mod you want. If the item has two influenced mods and you want to keep a specific one, there is always a 50% chance it bricks. Plan your budget around needing multiple attempts.
- For Awakener's Orb, the donor item only needs the one influenced mod you want to transfer. Buy the cheapest base with that mod — the rest of the item does not matter since it gets destroyed.
- Elevated mods (from Dominance) are strictly better than their base versions. Check what the elevated version does before committing — some elevations are minor stat bumps while others unlock entirely new mechanics.
- Base type matters for Dominance. Only body armour, helmet, boots, and gloves can be used. Weapons and jewellery have influenced mods but cannot be dominated.
Common Mistakes
- Awakener-slamming when the donor has multiple influenced mods. The slam transfers one mod at random from the donor — if the donor has two influenced mods, you have a 50% chance of transferring the wrong one. Always buy single-mod donors.
- Using Orb of Dominance on an item with three influenced mods. Dominance requires exactly two influenced mods from the same influence. Three mods (possible via Harvest or exarch/eater implicits) bricks the orb use.
- Ignoring base roll. The base item's item level determines which mods can roll after the slam — a low-ilvl base cannot roll the high-tier mods you expect, even if the influenced mods carry over correctly.
- Forgetting that Awakener's Orb destroys the target item's existing influenced mods. If your target already has good influenced mods, slamming wipes them. Always slam onto an item where the existing influenced mod is the one you want to keep.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between Orb of Dominance and Awakener's Orb?
- Orb of Dominance works on a single item — it elevates one of two influenced mods and removes the other. Awakener's Orb works across two items — it takes an influenced mod from one item and adds it to another, giving the target item dual influence.
- What are influenced mods?
- Mods that only appear on items with a specific influence (Shaper, Elder, Crusader, Hunter, Warlord, Redeemer). They are marked with special icons on the item and often provide effects not available on regular items.
- Can I use Orb of Dominance on any influenced item?
- The item needs exactly two influenced mods from the same influence type, and it must be armour (body armour, helmet, boots, or gloves). If the item has one mod or three mods, Dominance cannot be used.
- Where do these orbs drop?
- Orb of Dominance drops from Maven. Awakener's Orb drops from Sirus, Awakener of Worlds. Both are tradeable on the market.
- What is an elevated mod?
- An elevated mod is a strictly-better version of a standard influenced mod, created by Orb of Dominance. For example, "+1 to Level of all Physical Spell Skill Gems" has an elevated version "+2 to Level of all Physical Spell Skill Gems". Not every influenced mod has an elevated version — check the mod list before planning a craft.
- Does the item keep its existing non-influenced mods after an Awakener slam?
- No. Awakener's Orb rerolls the target item entirely, keeping only the two influenced mods (one from each item). Every other explicit mod is replaced with new rolls. Budget for either a follow-up Harvest reforge or scouring and re-crafting to finish the item.
- Can I combine two mods from the same influence?
- No. Awakener's Orb requires the two donor items to carry different influences (for example Hunter and Shaper). For same-influence dual-mod items, Orb of Dominance is the relevant crafting tool — it elevates one of two existing same-influence mods on a single item.
- How do I know if the mod I want can be transferred or elevated?
- Select the base type and influence in this tool — the available mods are filtered to only those that can roll on that slot with that influence. For elevations specifically, look for mods listed in both the base pool and the elevated pool. The trade link generated will search for items with the mod already on them.
